Solfocus, whose technology focuses 500 times the normal sunlight in small super-efficient solar materials, just make a new module that has the greatest energy density and capture capacity of any photovoltaic system available today.
We are not sure if this is true, but the new module (1100S) is impressive. It has an efficiency of 25%, much better than solar films, and comparable to the traditional photovoltaic systems.
The solar module is designed for medium-scale projects. Unfortunately it is not easy to implement these modules in houses, because they need to follow the sun in a very precise way so they need large spaces to place the machines that follow the sun.
But companies will surely love it. In hot areas, solar energy is produced exactly where is needed, when air conditioners are running at their peak.
We think SolFocus is a step in the race to create cheap energy from the sun, compared to solar towers or thin solar films.
