Future of the Photovoltaic Solar Energy

Technological change is steadily improving yields of cells.

This type of energy used to supply electricity to many villages and factories in Senegal, Jordan, Brazil, Philippines, Indonesia and Chile. World production is 60 megawatts per hour a year. In Spain are 25,000 households benefiting from this type of energy.

Having the unique advantages of this type of energy, both ecological and economic or purely practical, we may assume that this will be one of the great energies of the future. Hopefully, its share in world output will grow in the coming years.

• Contrary to what happens to the generators, PV systems require no fuel supply, are completely silent, hardly require maintenance and have a shelf life much longer.

• About the only maintenance required is to control the level of electrolyte in the battery and add distilled water every so often.

• The duration of a stationary battery type between 10 and 15. The solar panels have a duration much higher (manufacturers offer warranties of up to 25 years).

• Use a source of renewable energy (solar radiation), which means that the human timescale is inexhaustible, unlike what happens with conventional energy sources that depend on a limited resource (oil, coal , natural gas, etc).

• They produce electricity without any combustion reaction or avoiding the atmospheric emission of CO2 or other pollutants responsible among other phenomena, from global warming (greenhouse effect).
