Michelin Italy Mega Factory Built With Solar Panels
Michelin announced the construction in Cuneo (north) of a plant shall be supplied by photovoltaic panels, which will be the largest in Europe.
The Italian subsidiary of French tire maker said in a note that the panels to be installed on the roof, will occupy 147,000 meters square and produce an output of 10 million kilowatts a year.
In addition to feeding the plant, the facility also will provide power to 2,000 residents of the area and prevent the emission of 1,200 tons of CO2 per year.
The installation of solar PV will be completed in 2010 and will be built by the company Frey Energies Nouvelles, which deals with research and production of electricity through renewable sources
