China Prepares Action Plan For Solar Energy
An action plan aiming to promote research and scientific innovations for solar energy development in China will be prepared by a broad group of academics and experts.
As announced by the Academy of Sciences of China (ACC), the objective is to advance solar technologies in order to convert this energy source at a major Asian nation by the middle of this century.
The scientific body said the plan will be implemented in three phases and technological innovations include basic studies, implementation studies and market research.
China is developing various alternative energy programs, among them the use of solar energy.
This year two large solar power plants start being built in the Chinese provinces of Qinghai and Yunnan as part of a national project to encourage the development of renewable energy.
In this regard, the Asian nation has become a major global producer of solar heaters and photovoltaic panels.
This interest is based on the fact that two thirds of the territory receiving more than two thousand 200 hours of radiation from the sun each year and, in particular, some extensive deserts.
The Academy of Sciences believes that the key to a massive expansion in China of this renewable energy is to reduce costs for its utilization.
