China Starts Building Its Largest Solar Project
Earlier this week, the China Huaneng Group, started building a solar power plant that will be China’s largest, which will have the capacity to generate 166 megawatts in the province of Yunnan.
The project costs a total of one thousand three hundred million dollars, is planned to start operating in 2010. According to China Electricity Council, the company tries to expand their training for solar, wind and other clean energy to reach 10,000 MW by 2010.
China Huaneng, the largest electricity producer in that country, and has partnered with Hongkong Electric to build another 48 MW plant in the same Chinese province.
It seems that the need for these massive solar projects is more than ever, since China has overtaken the U.S. as the nation that more CO2 emissions released into the environment.
