Solar System Model Rentals Brings Clean Energy To The Cities Of Laos

The concept of a company that rents to owners of solar homes and provides with all maintenance is not new in the United States. This model allows the installation of the solar system with little money and little risk to the individual.

Rural Energy Car Sunlabob solar PV systems

This model is now used successfully in Laos to provide a range of solar products to the country where 47% of the population lives on less than $ 2 a day, and only 48% are connected to the mains. The firm Sunlabob Lao Rural Energy provides two ways for rural people have access to energy where there is no access to the grid and is not likely to have in the future.

Solar Lanterns

The first is through solar lanterns are rented at prices competitive with the cost of kerosene lanterns previously fed. When the lamp requires a charge after 15 hours of use, is returned to a collection center for recharging.

PV Solar Systems

The second is similar to programs of the United States: Sunlabob or one of its franchises rent solar photovoltaic system to the city committee, which then subleases to the owners of the homes. A local person is trained to provide basic services to Sunlabob providing additional support. All maintenance and installation cost is included in the price paid by the committee of the city. If the system fails, rental costs are suspended until a technician to repair the system.

So far, 500 solar lanterns, solar PV systems and 1,800 have been hired in 73 cities. The program is based entirely on rental costs to cover expenses, subsidies are not needed. In areas of the world where there is no reliable access to electricity network or where the network will be built, such decentralized proposal can provide the benefits of clean electric power to regions not normally obtained.
