“It is urgent for governmental instances and private initiative to invest in technological projects for the development of Hydrogen energetics”, assured the investigator the National Polytechnical Institute, Rosa González Huerta.

When dictating the conference “Hydrogen, Alternative To fight the Climatic Change”, the Extractive scientist of the School Superior of Chemical Engineering and Industries (ESIQIE), indicated that lamentably in the next ten years there is no investment for projects related to hydrogen like power plant.

The specialist noticed the urgency to invest in the development of alternative energy sources, every time the proven petroleum reserves for Mexico at the levels of present production reach solely after next the ten years, in addition indicated that the importance of exploring new energetic sources in which the collateral effects of the contamination by hydrocarbons is the main cause of the Global Warming.

In the event – that took place within the framework of XI the National Congress of Ecology -, González Huerta said that “settling down a new power system from hydrogen, would offer a rest to the planet, because it is a potentially clean power element, inexhaustible, efficient and of an attractive cost, therefore it can be considered in the short and long term as a resource for the energy storage”.

The polytechnic scientist explained that a great hydrogen source can be obtained from the diverse renewable energies like hydroelectric, geothermal, Aeolian or solar.

“Objective is that all these power plants send their surpluses to an electrolysis process, with which hydrogen will be generated and to use it like power vector, or to use a fuel cell or a motor of internal combustion to generate electricity”, limited.

The lecturer commented that the use of hydrogen as combustible she has postponed themselves by the increase of the production of petroleum and by many accidents associated with his use.

“The hydrogen has fame of being a dangerous material, but it is required solely of a suitable engineering, a civil education and sense common to diminish the risks”, she emphasized.

Finally, the specialist from IPN commented that the purpose of having a “economy of Hydrogen”, is to solve the contamination and energetic needs in a permanent and safe way without damaging the atmosphere.
