Green Vehicles Will Not Pay Taxes in Mexico

Wanting to incentivize the use of green, environmentally friendly, vehicles, the president Felipe Calderon Hinojosa announced today that his government is going to make an exception on the payment of their taxes to vehicles that uses fuels or energies that protect the environment, such as ethanol, hydrogen and electricity.

On an event in the Official Residence “Los Pinos”, General Motors Mexico announced the start of the production of their first hybrid vehicle in the plant of Ramos Arizpe (Coahuila), the president said that the redeem of their taxes is one step for companies to start changing their vehicles to these kind of cars.

Calderon Hinojosa committed to change the vehicles from government dependencies, in order to reduce the emission of toxic gases to the atmosphere.

“From the very beginning of my administration when’ve shown true commitment on the fight against climate change and this is a clear example, we are encouraging and helping companies to produce and sell this kind of vehicles in our nation”, he said.
