Different Types of Solar Energy
Photovoltaic solar energy: the energy of the future. In this type of energy, solar energy is converted into electricity without moving parts, without cycles and without chemical reactions. This power generation is virtually unlimited in duration, requires no maintenance, and produces no pollution and no noise.
Solar thermal power: this type of solar energy uses the energy directly received from the sun, which takes the form of heat. It can be used directly to produce electricity or directly to recover the heat from solar radiation. You can use it passive or actively.
Passive: it is to capture and uses heat from the sun without using mechanical elements and exploit the characteristics of materials.
Harnessing active solar energy is to use the heat produced by sunlight to heat a fluid through a device called collector. Those systems are classified into three types:
Low-temperature systems are used for heating, water heating, air conditioning, etc.
Medium temperature systems are working to produce steam to generate electricity.
High temperatures Systems can be:
- Large parabolic mirrors
- Tower centrals
- Solar ovens
