Australia Launches Solar Research Institute
Australia will invest 100 million Australian dollars on a new solar research institute. According to the government, the institute’s goals include increasing the competitiveness of solar technologies, to establish Australia as a key player in the solar industry, to make photovoltaic and thermal technologies cheaper and attract solar energy experts to the country.
The money for the center comes from a fund of $ 500 million for renewable energy.
A part of this investment, the Australian government has allocated another 15 million to 3 solar projects. 5 million will go for a pilot project of the University of Wales for crystalline silicon. Another 5 million will be invested in a solar tower in Newcastle and another 5 for a new solar research facility at the Australian National University in Canberra.
