8.5 GW Of Wind Power Installed In The U.S. In 2008
According to the latest press release from the American Wind Energy Association (WEA, for its initials in English), clean energy installation broke a record during 2008.
The press release said that during 2008, the United States installed 8.538 MW of new wind energy facilities, enough to supply 2 million households. This capacity represents 42% of all new energy that was installed in 2008 in the United States. The grand total installed of wind power is now 25.170 MW.
The top five states with wind energy are Texas with 7116 MW, Iowa with 2790 MW, 2517 MW in California, Minnesota and Washington with 1752 MW to 1375 MW.
