71 Wind Energy Turbines To Be Constructed in Scotland
Scotland enters the world of renewable energies with the construction of two wind energy plants, one in Dumfires the other in Galloway. Scottish government approved a proyect form Scottish Power to build 71 wind energy turbines.
The project will cost 406.2 million de dollars, and as soon as it is operating it will generate 213 mW of energy that will give enough energy to feed 120 thousand households.
The construction begun at the middle of 2008 and for the beginning of 2010 they plan to have the wind energy turbines.
Scottish Power is the biggest wind energy company in the UK, with 17 wind energy farms currently working. It is a subsidiary of the Spanish company Iberdrola.. They found a hard time in order to get their permission orders from the Dumfries and Galloway counties in June 2005. But in October 2006 they finally get them convinced about how big of a breakthrough would that be for the reduction of greenhouse effect gases. It is expected that about 500 thousand tons of carbon dioxide emissions will be saved.
