The First Revolving Door That Generates Energy In Operation

Earlier this year we told you about a concept to capture energy from a revolving door.

Well, we are pleased to announce that the first of the doors is running into a train station in Holland.

The door will generate energy savings of more than 4.600 kWh per year, and is part of a campaign to save energy from the station.

This door’s is called Natuurcafe Door, works with a generator that is driven by the energy people use to pass through it. Super capacitors store the energy used after to light the LED lights on the roof of the station. If these LEDs are just stored energy, a switch goes into action in order to use the regular energy of the station.

One display shows how much energy is being generated by the door for the curious we are aware.

This a great new way of renewable energy.

One Response to “The First Revolving Door That Generates Energy In Operation”

  1. Wow, this is pretty excellent and seems like it could really catch on. Though, truthfully, whenever the option presents itself, I always choose the traditional door next to the revolving door because I’m impatient. If I knew the revolving door at my office was supporting a cause I cared about, I’d probably develop a little more patience…
