Solar Energy Program Benefits Cuban People
Thanks to a program of the government of Cuba along with the help of Spanish groups, around 120 people in the province of Ciego de Avila enjoy the benefits of solar energy.
The new photovoltaic system will benefit about 30 families from the village, where the input of the power grid is not viable, said Adonis Perez specialist from Cubasolar, the company in charge of the project.
Each system consists of 2 small solar photovoltaic panels of 200 watts each, as well as an inverter, a regulator, a color TV, a boom box and 5 saving light bulbs.
This investment was made with the collaboration of the Spanish Diputación Floral Vizcaia and Solidarity Organization for Development and Peace (Sodepaz) as part of the development plan for renewable energy to the environment and economy of the island.
These actions are part of the “Energy Revolution” which takes place in Cuba since July 2005, based on lower fuel consumption and increase efficiency in energy generation.
