CIATEC Developed Prototypes Of Solar Heaters

The CIATEC, Center for Applied Innovation in Competitive Technologies, is working on the development of prototype heaters to use solar energy.

The Director of Research, José Luis Palacios Blanco, says the aim of his research is to create a more competitive cost-efficiency and encourage the use of solar energy among the population.

“We started to evaluate prototypes of solar heaters and discovered the many benefits its implementation brings coupled with the lack of a nationally established system and that so far only sell equipment abroad. Thus arises the idea of creating a local company that offers Mexican technology, “

There are three main types of solar heaters: those that use vacuum tubes, the heating coil and flat-plate, the latter chosen for the manufacture of the heater by CIATEC.

“Vacuum tubes are an imported technology that is efficient but is expensive, coil tubing or the type of characteristics of water in the town because the clogged pipe, we decided to pipe flat plate by being less costly to operate and easy find the materials that compose it, “he says.

They emphasized that implementation of the solar heater on a flat plate is commensurate to the potential radiation that exists in the city.

“The idea of this project as a Mexican product is to have a service where the customer can evaluate the energy savings and advantages in the short and medium term and not just be a store cupboard which offers products from other countries ”

The CIATEC researcher notes that there have been studies in which the consumer is sympathetic to the implementation of devices based on natural energies.

“As with any technology the consumer is the slope of the price, but knowing that in a medium-term investment is recovered, then the consumer appreciates the real benefit of this technology,” explains.
