Thermal Solar Energy Generates 11mW of Electricity
Face 600 mirrors to the same point and the place where the light hits will heat really fast. Pour some water over the same hot spot and you have enough steam to generate 11 mW of electricity, even at night.
A new solar energy plant in south Spain, built by SOLUCAR, is one of a kind among Europe.
While thermal solar energy plants like this have been working in Australia for several years now, this new Spanish plan would eventually be able to supply electricity to 600,000 people living in the city of Seville.
You may be asking how this thing works at night. Well due to the fact the plant produces such an amount of steam when the sun shines it can store part of the exceeded steam in tanks, for its further use. Once the night falls the containers open and turbines spin until dusk.
Wait for this modernist wonder improves with the time, thousands of additional mirrors are being installed to work together with those already installed.
