Solar Energy Turns CO2 into Fuel

Researchers from University of California in San Diego are developing an unthinkable breakthrough. The use of solar energy to fight against the main responsible for global warming.

It consists on a solar energy panel that separates CO2 in CO (carbon monoxide) and oxygen. CO generated may be turned into bio-diesel. The best of all is that the CO consumed by industries is regularly obtained from natural gas, meaning that if we keep on using this new solar technique, we will slow our dependency on natural gas little by little.

Nowadays, this panel isn’t completely finished due to the fact it needs more energy than the one provided by the sun, but scientists are positive about the use of other materials being the solution to this issue.

The most important thing is that they are discovering new ways to take advantage from solar energy, and it is only a matter of time for them to be out on the market.
