Nissan Will Keep The Batteries Charged With Solar Energy

Nissan has found a way to keep the batteries of their new cars until the new client arrives. The manufacturer announced today that it has signed a contract with the manufacturer of Solar Technologies ICP Solar for a solar charger for car batteries.

Newly manufactured cars can be placed in a parking lot for a month before being purchased. At that time, the battery charge can diminish. The ICP will provide a string of charge to keep the new battery at the top and ready for the customer.

ICP Solar says it will save millions for the Nissan car manufacturers because they will not have to change the battery of the car to sell it, but barely used batteries. The solar manufacturer based in Montreal signed a similar agreement with Volkswagen in 2006 when they debuted their OEM solar car charger.

Solar energy is becoming an attractive option for manufacturers to help auto electric systems. Toyota is considering offering a Prius model with sunroof. Karma Fisker Automotive will also take on a roof, which the company says would power the air conditioning. A fully commercial solar car may not be seen soon, but one built by Swiss engineers actually went last week by a bay, powered by a trailer with 6 square meters of solar panels on.
