Currently there are two renewable energy technologies being tested in Guatemala
1) A micro generator of electric power
2) Solar Heaters $ 100
Micro power generator
This first product is a micro-renewable power generator that is turned on currents as low as 3 gallons per second, ideal for the mountainous areas of Guatemala. This generator was created by XelaTeco, a business incubator located west of Guatemala.
XelaTeco is building 3 micro generators for rural communities, as well as biodigestors, efficient solar stoves, solar pumps, filters, and solar LED lighting systems.
$ 100 solar heater
The Company Ashok Gadgil is developing a passive solar energy heater. The passive solar heater consists in sheets of glass, a heat collector, a system of pipes, insulation materials to reduce heat loss and water inputs and outputs. The team has been working to bring the price of the heater to only $ 100 and have installed prototypes in 10 low-income houses Guatemala. In the coming months the team will be working in the production and mass distribution of the solar heater.
