Google Is The Largest American Investor In Geothermal Research
Geothermal energy is taking a lot of strength lately. Google, who has always been interested in renewable energy at low costs, is investing in research to develop geothermal energy.
On the other hand, in Australia, the government is investing up to four times more than Google to develop renewable energy for the country. A report from the Geothermal Energy Association of Australia, reported this week that could be producing 2.200 MW based on this energy by 2020, thus covering 40% of its renewable target for that year.
MIT estimates that the United States could generate 100 gigawatts of energy over the next 40 years at a cost of one billion dollars of geothermal energy.
The amount of energy that can be generated with geothermal energy is incredibly big. The Australian government estimates that only 1% of the country’s geothermal capacity could supply 26.000 years of clean energy in the country.
