New solar thermal energy plant in Spain
The Spanish company Acciona Energy announced an investment of 500 million Euros to build two new solar thermal plants in Cordoba in southern Spain.
Each plant will have capacity to produce 50 megawatts, and together they can supply energy to 75,000 households, or 244 million kWh per year. Come into operation in 2010.
The plants cover an area of 260 hectares, or 364 football fields, bringing 1520 to be solar heated by 364,800 mirrors that direct sunlight to the collectors.
