Solar Blinds

These blinds use two solar technologies, OLED lighting (illumination through organic LEDs and solar energy. The system, called Lightway, is a system of rotating shutters and transparent that recharge with solar energy during the day and t night glow inside the houses or buildings.

An interesting issue is that the inventor, Damian Savio, did not create these solar blinds from scratch, took motorized blinds and transparent that already existed and only added microscopic solar cells and transparent OLED, which allows the entry of light during the day, while charging the system to illuminate at night.

In theory these blinds illuminate as a 60 watts light bulb, making it unnecessary to turn one on at night. It is estimated that installing the solar blinds, you can have a 22% savings in electricity bills of your house.

These blinds were finalists in the Australian Design Award for students, so it was widely publicized; hopefully some investors see the potential of this project and invest to put them in the market soon.
