Homemade solar water heater

We get hundreds of mails asking how to build a homemade solar water heater.

That’s why I want to share with you this solar heater very kindly Ricardo Jorge Leguizamón, a reader of this page, sent us.

The materials used were as follows (see the number on the image to locate the position):

1. Wooden frame, 25 × 25 mm, which functions as a separation between the windows.
2. Galvanized box of 1 meter long by 50 centimeters wide and 15 centimeters thick. The interior is painted in matt black.
3. Coil of copper pipe 15 mm in diameter. Three curves. Where made
4. Glass plate 7 mm thick.

Additional notes:

* The double glass plate is to avoid wind cooling. You can put a single plate.
* The coil is self made but you can use the one in the gas water heater (used or new).
* Measurements are depending on the use or need.
* The input and output of water is indistinct, only change the position of the thermal physics, we know that hot water rises.

We thank Jorge Ricardo for making this material of a homemade solar water heater. And if you’ve built something with solar energy or renewable energy, please send your information and we will publish it.
