The Solar backpack
This new invention halfway between the backpack we carry to class and the back of a spacesuit, it takes a few solar panels that can generate up to 4 watts of energy. Enough power to charge the battery of a mobile phone, a PDA or an advanced digital camera. And all of this while we are hiking in the middle of the field.
The curious bag is included in the top 10 of travel gadgets by Dethroner, which includes other inventions like a satellite receiver via internet and a mobile phone with coverage to over 70 countries.
Besides solar panels, the Voltaic BackPack is equipped with a series of connections with the typical conventional type computer USB input. A must if we want a universal system of plugs for the trips.
The key is that we can plug in different brands of mobile, MP3 players and all kinds of small electronic devices, to use as much to charge their batteries. The penalty is that power is not sufficient to charge larger devices such as laptop.
An indicator light alerts us when the solar panels capture enough light to generate a charge. For when there is no sun, the backpack has a rechargeable battery to 2,200 milliamp hours (mA.h). The battery, as expected, it is recharged with solar energy.
In the manufacturer’s website, Voltaic Systems, we can see the different models. The “batch” comes out $ 250 (around 190 euros). Is ultimately a good gadget to keep our devices loaded with good solar energy as we hike.
