The largest wind energy project in Canada
Tony Clement, Minister of Canada announced an investment of 54 million dollars for a wind farm.
The wind farm will be located on 80 square meters of land northwest of the city of Sault Ste Marie; it will have 126 turbines capable of generating 189 megawatts. During the first 10 years the government will subsidize the farm in order to maintain competitive prices.
“We need that energy will power our economy and we need clean energy to protect the environment, this is a priority for the government and for the foundation, to find a balance between technology and environmental stewardship,” said Clement. “Investing in projects of this type, we make sure that clean energy, solar energy and wind energy will be the basis for our energy to catapult into the future”
