Solar Energy Olympic Pool
One of the most important events in the history of the Representative Swimming Team of ITESM-CEM was the construction of a pool on campus. The pool of the Tec de Monterrey Campus State of Mexico, are now considered as a unique model in Latin America, which is the prototype of environment-friendly sport scenarios.
The Solar Pool
It’s the firs solar heated pools in Latin America and its used for tournaments and international events. It is one of the few pools in Mexico roofed with air conditioning and heating. It has window to be able to make sub-aquatic shots and filming. It was lockers, rehab center and a snack bar.
It is built according to the requirements of international sports federations.
Filtration System
The filtration system and water treatment follows international standards of the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group. The filtration requires much less chemicals than regular pools. It has an Ozonisation system to clean the pool, hence less chlorine is used.
Heating and filtration
The distribution panel consists of 623 collectors of 1.20 by 3.20 meters to capture solar energy and thereby heat the water.
Alternative System
The machines room has a redundant system, with pollution agents. If there are between 3 and 5 days of continuous cloudiness, it would be necessary to use the redundant system, which uses natural gas, which is cleaner and less risky.
Lighting
It has light domes. The study of light is important because in almost all pools there are reflections in some areas and in this pool there are none. Here the light is completely central, a study was done to avoid that problem.
